Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Whether you are adding Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to an existing Wound Care program or are in the process of starting a new Wound Care program, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy provides an opportunity to positively impact both your wound healing outcomes as well as the financial success of your program.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves placing a patient in a pressurized chamber and administering 100% oxygen at pressure greater than sea level. The chamber can be either monoplace or multi-place. The former allows treatment of one patient at a time and the latter can accommodate several patients at the same time. HBOT is recognized as an important adjunct in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds. According to the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Committee Report, HBOT may be used to help with treating:

  • Chronic, Refractory Osteomyelitis
  • Radiation Tissue Damage (Osteoradionecrosis)
  • Compromised Skin Grafts and Flaps
  • Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections
  • Diabetic Ulcer of the Lower Extremity
  • Enhancement of Healing in Selected Problem Wounds

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy services are reimbursed by most payors, including Medicare, managed care, and commercial insurers.

Addition of Hyperbaric Services to Existing Wound Care Programs

Adding hyperbaric oxygen therapy to an existing wound care program can be an extremely costly task if not done correctly. The initial setup of the program can determine the level of clinical and financial success for years to come. The implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and protocols, chart forms and documentation criteria can help prevent costly denials and improve the financial performance of the program. Paradigm Medical Management will work with a hospital to determine the need and best method of implementation with little or no disruption to continued wound care operations.

We structure a relationship with our hospital partners which will be flexible and will meet each individual hospital's need. Our services are designed to provide our hospital partners with the assurance that every aspect of the program will be addressed in order to provide a hassle-free experience during the implementation process. Amputation Prevention Centers of America

This program utilizes a team-based approach that pairs foot and ankle orthopedists and/or podiatrists with vascular surgeons - resulting in significant reductions in major amputations for the growing number of people in the country who suffer the complications of diabetes and/or peripheral arterial disease.

Community-based wound care centers that offer comprehensive care are increasingly interested in optimizing outcomes and preventing limb loss. However, these clinics oftentimes are not equipped or staffed with the clinical experts to treat the medically complex patients with often life- and limb-threatening conditions in need of immediate surgical and/or medical attention.

We offer a range of advanced diagnostics and effective treatments and procedures for limb salvage, using the latest technologies that may include:

  • Systemic hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Cutting edge equipment
  • Bioengineered skin substitutes
  • Aggressive medical and surgical interventions
  • Telemedicine case conferences

Physician Billing

Paradigm Medical Management offers assistance with billing to its wound care panel physicians. This service has provided many physicians the expertise necessary to address and prevent denials for services from various payors. Our billing and collections expertise allows physicians to be able to collect all of the revenue to which they are entitled. Most independent physician offices are not equipped to deal with the various additional data requests that payors impose prior to paying the claim. If you are currently providing wound care services in a comprehensive wound care program, ask us how we can help.
